Christ Church, Lower Birling Church

Built in 1896 to meet the demands of a growing population in the southern tip of Snodland, this is a very simple two-cell church of Ragstone in crazy-paving, but one with great charm. Simple plate-tracery in the windows and some nice stained glass, including one by Aikman (see also Minster in Thanet) add to a welcoming interior. The reordering of the chancel in the 1907s resulted in the loss of some furnishings but made the church more flexible, and together with the panelled chancel ceiling created a nice performance space.
